Windows 7

I've been hearing mostly positive comments on Windows 7. Although I have yet to exprience the interface personally, It does look promising in a number of ways. Currently I'm sticking with Windows XP Pro on my main system and Linux Ubuntu 9.10 on my secondary system. I surely will not be paying $200-$300 for the Windows 7 upgrade since I see no need at this time. I recently read a good article on someone's exprience in upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7, which explains some of the pros and yes, cons, of Microsoft's new OS.

Looks like Microsoft did sneak a new on demand anti-malware scanner past us. Most would have been unaware of the new application if not for keeping up with various IT newletters, blogs and web sites, such as I do on a daily basis. This small application is downloaded as an .exe file and instead of being installed onto your Windows enironment, it is just ran directly from the .exe file to start the scanning process. One of the downsides to the program is that you have to re-download the file again, after ten days, to include the latest definitions for the program.
